I have realized something these last few months, something I never thought would happen. a long time ago Don Juan and I saw a movie where the character says something to the affect that one day you turn around and you notice your little children have grown into very interesting people.
I couldn't see that day in the horizon, all of our kids were super young and needed a ton of caring for.
but what do you know? My sweetest little first born is now 8. I can actually have very interesting conversations with him. I enjoy his company, not how a mom enjoys a son but as a person. He has begun being a very interesting human being. so much so that my sacred time
( which is around 7 when all the kids go to bed for the night) when I get to read or just unwind he sits next to me quietly and reads his book while I read mine.
It feels very adult and I love that he enjoys what I enjoy.....
not to mention he is on the 4th Harry Potter book and before he goes to bed I get to talk to him about what he just read and his thoughts on whats going on.

you can see my reupholstered ottoman in the background. my first attempt at reupholstering. not bad if I do say so myself, although as soon as i got it done I had second thoughts about the fabric, but I can deal with it, anything is better than the red pleather it was covered with before
